Alvin Spalding Jr.

Alvin Spalding Jr. of Aberdeen passed away Friday, June 18, 2021, at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center due to complications from a stroke he suffered on May 18.

Junior was born April 15, 1940, in Shelton, Washington to Alvin and Ellen (Ray) Spalding.

Junior had worked the green chain in local mills for many years. He had worked as a bus mechanic for Elma Public Schools for 19 years.

For the past 25 yrs. Junior lived with his sister Ella Mae. You rarely saw one without the other. They were always together. He loved hunting and fishing with his nephew Eugene and really enjoyed visiting people and loved everybody. He especially loved woodworking in his shop with close friend David Jones.

Junior is survived by his children Victor, Tanya, Mark and Gerald Spalding of East County; nine siblings: Ella Mae Harnden (David S. Jones) of Aberdeen, Washington; Barbara Emerson, Allen and Richard Spalding; Joe, Tony and Bobby Koonrad of Elma and Margie and Althea both of East County; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Louise and brothers David Koonrad and Lee Brown.

A celebration of his life is being planned and will be announced as soon as details become available.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen.
