After fighting a long battle, Alveda “Beadie” Brawley Teagle passed away peacefully on Nov. 18, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital with her husband and never-ending support, Edward Teagle, by her side.
Alveda was born on Oct. 4, 1929, at the Johnson Maternity Home in Aberdeen to Erton “Whitey” Brawley and Margaret Walczak, and at a young age moved to Cosmopolis, which is where she spent much of her young life. She attended Cosmopolis grade school, Miller Junior High and Weatherwax High School and was always proud of her Cozi roots.
On June 20, 1947, she married Wayne Fry and they had three children, Jason Fry, Janice Fry and Ronald Fry, who passed on 1949 shortly after birth. They divorced in 1958.
Beadie then went to work at the Rayonier Paper mill where she met Edward Teagle and with a little help from Jason and Janice they were married on Sept. 26, 1959.
After their marriage they moved to Axford Prairie where they owned the Eat Café, and then settled in Hoquiam. In 1963 they adopted newborn, Melinda Teagle.
Beadie spent her life caring for others, and in addition to her own children Beadie and Ed also had numerous foster children live in their home. She was always willing to help when kids needed her; she led Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Brownie troupes, was a parent helper in school, Tri Hi Y advisor, drill team dance mom, and could always be found supporting her children and their friends in whatever activity they participated in.
Beadie and Ed also enjoyed the outdoors including countless family camping trips, a cabin at Lake Quinault, taking walks, and Trask Lake where she was a longtime active member in the Lake Trask Association.
She is survived by her husband Ed Teagle, son Jason Fry and his wife Karin Fry (Hoquiam), Janice Fry Leander and her husband Mark Leander (Fox Island), Mindy Teagle Kraft and her husband Craig Kraft (Woodinville), grandchildren Emily Fry, Jessica Frye, Meredith Leander Rivas, Ivan Leander, Duncan Kraft and Audrey Kraft and great-grandchildren Madalyn, Haili, Gabrielle, Carmen and Joey.
There will be a celebration of life open house on Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Fry residence (805 Bluff Ave., Hoquiam, WA) starting at 3 p.m.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Wash.
