Alladeen Hanna, 98, a longtime resident of Grayland, passed away peacefully with family by her side at home on Oct. 17, 2020. She was born on Jan. 5, 1922, to Joseph and Maria Eggler. She was raised in Rochester and was a 1940 graduate of Elma High School. During this time she played the accordion in a dance band in Grays Harbor, Mason, and Thurston counties. Alladeen went on to serve in the military from 1943-1945 as a Sergeant during World War II in the Women’s Army Corps attached to Mediterranean Army Air Force Infantry Division 6670 in Italy and Algiers.

Alladeen married Arne Hanna on Dec. 30, 1950. She was a kind-hearted person, a cranberry farmer and a homemaker. Alladeen was an avid bird lover with over 100 birdhouses; martins and hummingbirds were among her favorites. She loved her time with her family and grandchildren. She is famous for welcoming friends and family with “Are you hungry? Have you eaten yet?” She enjoyed the more than occasional dish of ice cream and chocolate chip cookie as well as sneaking treats to the dogs. She was a frequent ballroom dancer.

She is survived by her daughters: Susie (Mike) Krigbaum of Grayland and Marilyn Hanna of Lacey; grandchildren: Greg Krigbaum, Trisha Krigbaum, Christine Brule, Jayme (John) Garrison and Nathan (Ashley) Krigbaum; great-grandchildren Madisyn, Ryder and Trevor Garrison; Piper and Bodie Brule; and Blake Krigbaum.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arne Hanna; her parents; sisters Florence Ford and Dorothy Gerard; brothers Harold Eggler, Horace Eggler and Clarence Eggler and her special dance partner Bob.

At Alladeen’s request, there will be no service held.
