Long-time Grays Harbor resident Alice (Rasor) Scott, 101, died on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at the Mt. Baker Care Center in Bellingham, Washington where she had been a patient for the last year.

Alice was born on April 19, 1917, in Aberdeen, Washington to Frank N. and Eudora (Brecht) Rasor. She attended grade school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen High School. She attended the Multnomah School of the Bible and also studied a business course. Alice’s brothers were Robert Rasor who worked in the logging industry; and Newt Rasor, well-known on the Harbor as a spiritual leader and pastor at the Copalis Community Church. Her sister, Bonnie Morris, resides in Fullerton, California.

Alice married Emerson L. Scott on June 13, 1941, in Montesano. The couple lived in Hoquiam their entire married life of 61 years until Emerson’s death in 2003. Alice continued to live at the family home until she moved to Channel Point in Hoquiam. At 95 she moved to Bellingham to be near family and resided at Summit Place Assisted Living prior to Mt. Baker Care Center.

Alice was the ultimate homemaker with the family enjoying her homemade bread and other culinary delights. She was a stay-at-home mom, providing the best care for their three children. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, the prolific roses in their yard, reading, and playing the piano and organ. She was the organist/pianist for the Grays Harbor Seventh-day Adventist Church for more than 50 years. She will be remembered for her devotion to God and to her husband and family. There was nothing she loved more than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Alice’s survivors include her three children: son, David (Carol) Scott, Hansville, Washington; daughters Judy (Halvard) Thomsen, Apple Valley, California, and Jane (David) Wareing, Bellingham, Washington; sister, Bonnie Morris, Fullerton, California; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A private vault interment will be held in Hoquiam Sunset Memorial Park and a celebration of life at the Grays Harbor Seventh-day Adventist Church on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. Anyone wishing to remember Alice may make a memorial gift in her name to the Grays Harbor Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3101 Cherry St., Hoquiam, WA 98550.
