Alec Ross McGiveron was found deceased in his home on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at the age of 60

Alec Ross McGiveron, a lifelong resident of Grays Harbor County, was found deceased in his home of an apparent heart attack on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at the age of 60. Alec was born to Henry McGiveron and Alice Moors on Dec. 25, 1959, in Aberdeen, Washington.

Family adventures were central to his joyful childhood which included camping, road trip, and holiday celebrations orchestrated by his beloved mother. He had passions for clam digging, blackberry picking, the outdoors, music, reading and local history. Alec graduated from Aberdeen High School in the class of 1979. During his life he worked at Pacific Seafood, Westport Shipyard, Duffy’s Restaurant and many endless odd jobs throughout the Harbor.

Alec is survived by his son Matthew McGiveron; daughters Marcy Thomas and Tara Benson; brother Dean McGiveron; sister Ruth Andring; seven grandchildren: Samara, Nicholas, Robert, Allison, Roman, Mackenzie and Nora; as well as his mother’s lifelong partner Douglas Plumley. His grandchildren brought him a great amount of joy in life. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry McGiveron and Alice Moors.

The family will hold a small memorial for Alec later this month followed by an outdoor celebration of life this summer. Any memorials to be made in honor of Alec may be to The Polson Museum.
