Agnes Johannessen Splinter, longtime Aberdeen resident passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, in Silverdale, Washington.

Agnes Johannessen Splinter, 90, longtime Aberdeen resident and former veneer grader for Grays Harbor Veneer, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Silverdale, Washington.

Agnes was born on Jan. 16, 1932 in Hoquiam, Washington to Sigurd B. and Agnes G. (Carson) Damm. She lived in Hoquiam for 10 days and then her family moved to Aberdeen. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1950. She did housekeeping for a number of families on the Harbor for a number of years. She worked at Grays Harbor Veneer from 1978 to 1992.

Agnes married Clifford W. Splinter on Nov. 19, 1954 in Montesano, Washington. He passed away on May 22, 1977.

She enjoyed cross stitch, knitting, gardening and playing cards.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia (James) Trembley of Bremerton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Splinter, brothers Bert and Charles Damm, both of Aberdeen; and a sister May Hardy.

Agnes will be inurned with her husband at Fern Hill Cemetery on Friday, July 29, 2022 at noon. A reception will follow in the Dorothy Mann Reception Hall in Fern Hill Funeral Home.
