Thurston County COVID-19 cases rise to 127

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 continued to slowly ascend on Saturday, rising to 127 after a man in his 70s was identified as the latest case, public health officials announced.

The county is on pace to have its fewest weekly cases of the novel coronavirus since Thurston County Public Health and Social Services began tracking the outbreak in early March.

Saturday’s case now gives the county four cases for the week. The next update is at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Of the 127 cases, 115 people have either recovered or are recovering, plus there has been one death, according to the county. That gives the county 11 active cases, the data show.

Also in the region:

• Pierce County continues to deal with more cases and deaths. As of Saturday, the county had 22 new cases with two more deaths, pushing its total to 1,787 cases with 68 deaths. A Parkland man in his 20s and a South Hill woman in her 90s were the two who died. Both had underlying health problems, according to county health officials.

• Lewis County has 34 cases with three deaths.

• Mason County has 30 cases and one death.

• Grays Harbor County now has 15 cases.

Washington state has more than 18,000 cases and 1,000 deaths, according to the state Department of Health.
