A small fire in the insulation under the Lake Quinault Lodge prompted evacuation and fire crew response Saturday afternoon.

Volunteer fire crews were called to the Lake Quinault Lodge on the South Shore road in Quinault on Saturday afternoon after smoke was reported coming from insulation under the lodge.

The initial call came in just after 4 p.m. Saturday. Smoke was discovered coming from the insulation underneath the flooring near the recreation center. Smoke was later reported in the historic lobby.

Guests were asked to evacuate as volunteer fire crews from Districts #4 and #16 dowsed the insulation and vented the smoke from under the building.

No injuries were reported. One man, who discovered the smoke, refused treatment for smoke inhalation.
