Wishkah districts names new school supe

Wally Lis, superintendent for the Quilcene School District for the past seven years, has been named as the new superintendent of the Wishkah Valley School District.

In a school district release dated June 29, superintendent search consultant Don Hay and school board president Bruce Daniels said Lis officially assumed the position July 1.

Robert Eager, a longtime teacher and coach in the district, had been serving as acting superintendent since former superintendent Dennis Johnson was placed on administrative leave April 9. A call to school board president Bruce Daniels inquiring as to Johnson’s exit was not immediately returned.

“I am very honored to have been chosen for this position,” said Lis. “I am looking forward to working with the staff and meeting their students and their families.”

Lis has also served as superintendent of the Brinnon School District, and has experience as a school administrator, teacher and coach. He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Northern Michigan University and received his superintendent’s endorsement from Western Washington University in 2006.
