Van vs. boat trailer wreck sends one to the hospital

A van versus boat trailer collision closed one lane of eastbound traffic on State Route 12 on Thursday afternoon.

The Washington State Patrol said a van driven by a 22-year-old Aberdeen woman and a truck pulling a boat and trailer were both eastbound on State Route 12. Shortly after 4 p.m., the truck pulled into the turn lane to go north on Monte Brady Road, and the van struck the boat trailer.

The van came to rest in the intersection of State Route 12 and Monte Brady Road. The truck and boat remained in the left turn lane, according to the report.

The van driver was transported to Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma with undisclosed injuries. There were three passengers in the van who were not injured, but were taken to the Montesano Police station for precautionary reasons — they ranged in age from 1 month to 4 years, according to the State Patrol report. The truck driver, a 60-year-old Elma man, was not injured.

Traffic was blocked for about an hour and 45 minutes with eastbound traffic able to get through in the right lane. The incident is under investigation.
