An explosive ordnance disposal team from Joint Base Lewis McChord responded to Centralia on Saturday to take custody of unexploded munitions reportedly dating to World War II according to the Centralia Police Department
Centralia police received a request at 11:26 a.m. from the 2500 block of Kristine Court from a citizen “to look at several WWII era ‘bullets’ found several years ago in Florida to see if they were safe,” according to a news release.
Police inspected the items and consulted with the Washington State Patrol bomb unit and determined they were actually “unexploded munitions that had been fired and had the potential to be live and armed,” according to the police department.
