Unattended heater likely cause of Aberdeen house fire

An electrical short in a heater left running to dry out some recently applied drywall spackling compound is believed to have caused a fire in Aberdeen Thursday evening.

Aberdeen Fire Department Battalion Chief Dave Golding said crews were notified at 7:20 p.m. of a fire in the 1900 block of Coolidge Road. Upon arrival crews saw smoke coming from under the house and from the eaves. The house was under construction.

”Crews entered the structure and were able to quickly extinguish the fire,” said Golding. “A total of 11 firefighters responded in one command unit, three engines and one medic unit. There were no injuries to fire personnel or civilians.”
