Two arrests made after weeks-long drug investigation

Two men were arrested on drug-related charges in the 100 block of Karr Avenue in Hoquiam on Tuesday.

Hoquiam and Aberdeen police assisted the Grays Harbor County Drug Task Force in the arrest of two men on drug-related charges in the 100 block of Karr Avenue in Hoquiam on Tuesday.

“Police, local code enforcement officials, and neighbors are very familiar with this residence due to the high volume of foot and vehicle traffic during the day and night,” said Hoquiam Police Deputy Chief Joe Strong. “The surrounding neighbors were obviously fed up with the constant traffic and posted signs in the area. The Drug Task Force and the Hoquiam Police Department listen to these complaints and they are often critical to these ongoing investigations.”

The execution of a search warrant after a weeks-long investigation into drug sales at the residence Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old man on several counts of delivery of heroin, said Strong. “He also had a significant amount of methamphetamine in his possession as well as over $2,000 cash when he was arrested,” said Strong.

A second adult male with numerous outstanding warrants was also taken into custody at the scene after he was found hiding in a closet, said Strong. A search of that suspect turned up suspected methamphetamine and related paraphernalia.

“The Hoquiam Police Department recognizes the menace these nuisance drug houses pose and we work closely with the Drug Task Force to address them,” said Strong.
