All persons involved were transported for further care

Multiple agencies responded to a two-car crash near porter on Sunday afternoon after a car was struck head-on by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

A passenger in the second vehicle was medevac’d to Harborview Medical Center, while the two drivers were transported to Summit Pacific Medical Center, according to the news release from the Washington State Patrol.

The 62-year-old man, driving a Hyundai coupe, was traveling south on State Route 12 at about 3:57 p.m., when he attempted to turn left and was struck by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, a Honda sedan, driven by a 23-year-old Shelton man with a 25-year-old Elma woman in the passenger seat.

The 25-year-old woman was not wearing a seatbelt, and was subsequently medevac’d to Harborview. The first vehicle was totaled, according to the report.

The cause of the incident is the 62-year-old man’s failure to yield, according to the report.

Drugs or alcohol are not a factor in the case, according to the report.
