Teenager from Aberdeen dies in fatal crash in Darrington

Two teenagers, including one from Aberdeen, died in a car crash Monday in Darrington.

The driver, a 19-year-old male from Aberdeen, crashed into a large piece of construction equipment parked on the side of the road just before 3 p.m. on the Mountain Loop Highway near Clear Creek Road, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Both the driver, and a 17-year-old male passenger from Darrington, died at the scene.

The Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the collision, and believe speed may have been a factor. The road will remain closed while the investigation takes place.

No other vehicles were involved, the Sheriff’s Office said.
