Summer fun in downtown Aberdeen

The aroma of barbecue filled the air in downtown Aberdeen during Summerfest on Saturday.

Summerfest featured a western theme this year, complete with country music, cowboy outfits and a barbecue cook-off to attract visitors.

Younger attendees also had activities to participate in including corn-hole, a hula hoop competition and a chance to use a real firehose with the Aberdeen Fire Department.

Summerfest co-founder Bobbi McCracken said the event highlights Aberdeen’s unique features.

“It’s an event to draw people downtown and see what Aberdeen has to offer. We have barbecuers, vendors, games and lots of fun going on,” she said.
