Strategies for Chehalis Basin subject of virtual public meeting

The Daily World

Tuesday night offers another chance to learn about the Chehalis Basin Strategy process involving a broad range of interests from local, tribal and state governments as they work to reduce major flooding and protect aquatic species in the river basin. A public virtual meeting is scheduled from 6-8 p.m.

To register to watch the meeting, go to chehalisbasinstrategy.com. There will be opportunity for input and questions.

In February, a public briefing and question-and-answer session was held on the complex discussions and strategies that could factor in long terms plans. A link to the recording of that Zoom meeting is available on the chehalisbasinstrategy.com website.

Tuesday’s meeting will include a discussion on the Chehalis Basin Board’s timeline for when it will make its recommendations to the governor, Legislature and Congress for which actions should be implemented as part of the long-term Chehalis Basin Strategy. At a meeting last week, the board set a June 2021 date as its new target.
