The Washington State Patrol has identified the suspected driver in a reported hit-and-run incident from Sunday. A State Patrol press release identifies the suspect as Irven Jacobs.
On Jan. 27, a 10-year-old boy was struck and critically injured on U.S. 101 near Oyster Bay road by a driver who fled the scene, according to the release. Troopers responded to the reports of a hit-and-run at around 5:30 p.m.
The victim, who the release describes as a person with autism, had wandered away from his home just minutes before he was struck. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. Witness reports indicated the vehicle involved was a silver or cream-colored minivan.
The following day, State Patrol detectives located the vehicle on a gravel road in Shelton within 10 miles of the collision scene. They are now looking for any information on the whereabouts of Jacobs.
The State Patrol asks anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jacobs to contact Detective Kevin Pratt at 253-310-1826. Crime Stoppers is also offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the cse. You can contact Crime Stoppers of the South Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at www.p3tips.com.
