Small business set to host unique three-day sale in Montesano

From collected and reclaimed antiques to homemade vintage crafts, event hopes to entice community

As the old saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. For avid collectors of vintage artifacts and antique items, one East County business may be the perfect destination to visit.

The first annual Fall Vintage & Antiques Market is set to begin in Grays Harbor County on Friday, Sept. 30. The three-day event, which is being hosted by Lavender & Fir Roadside Market, will feature collected and reclaimed antique treasures as well as handmade vintage items such as wreaths, fall arrangements and blankets among other things.

Kaisa Blaylock, the owner of Lavender & Fir Roadside Market, said she’s thrilled about the opportunity to host the Fall Vintage & Antiques Market and allow more people to see the store she and her husband built.

“We’ll have antiques all out the front and antiques all out the back of the farmstand. The plan is to have a big white tent and have hundreds, possibly thousands of antiques out here for people to peruse and we’ll also have snacks and things like that so it’s going to be really fun,” Blaylock said.

Blaylock said running the farmstand is relatively new to her. She opened Lavender & Fir Roadside Market to the public last summer, and eventually added attachments such as a window house for guests to enjoy coffee and surrounding gardens as well as a “u-cut” program where visitors could pick their flowers for Blaylock to wrap into eloquent bouquets.

“This business has kind of been a by-chance thing that we got into because our kids had a little flower stand out front where they sold bouquets, and it was such a hit that then we built the farmstand, I started including antiques and vintage things,” Blaylock said.

Blaylock was quick to confess her love for antiques and said she thought of hosting the weekend-long event due to the positive reception the community has given to her business.

“We really love the Grays Harbor community and what we’ve made here so this weekend is just going to be a fun event where we can have a good time with the community,” Blaylock said.

For people who are interested in visiting the Fall Vintage & Antiques Market event, it will be held Friday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. each day, located at 182 Monte Brady Road, in Montesano.
