Aberdeen Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred at the Chehalis River transient camp Sunday, according to Lt. Kevin Darst.
About 3:30 a.m. Sunday the victim showed up at the police station and told police he was sleeping in his car at the camp near 301 E. River St. when he was awakened by the sound of something hitting the passenger side of his Chevrolet Suburban and glass shattering. According to Darst, officers found the car had apparently been shot with a shotgun.
The suspect vehicle quickly left the scene and the victim attempted to follow, losing track of the suspect near the B Street 7-11, according to the victim. Officers investigated the scene and found a shotgun wad, which was collected for evidence, said Darst.
The victim told officers he believed the shooting was retaliation for a domestic issue.
The investigation is ongoing, and Darst urges anyone with information regarding the case to call the department’s investigations section at 360-533-3180.
