Scammers target PUD customers

Scammers are getting more sophiscated when targeting Grays Harbor County residents

Grays Harbor Public Utilities District customers are the targets of scammers, again.

The scammers are calling PUD customers demanding payment and threatening to shut off power if payment is not made immediately. They are manipulating the phone call to make it appear as if the call is coming from the utility.

“While the methods of these scammers are becoming more sophisticated, the scams still only work if you volunteer your personal information,” PUD Customer Service Director Katy Moore said in a release.

Under no circumstances should you agree to send money or give them personal information, the release states.

If you receive such a threatening phone call, contact PUD customer service at 360-592-4220 to verify your account.
