Saginaw Days fun for all

Brian Sheridan of Aberdeen was the all-around winner at Saginaw Days last weekend in Brooklyn.

Sheridan took first place in chainsaw bucking and double bucking (with Cody Stearns). He also took second in single bucking, pole falling and Ma & Pa bucking (with Taisha Jones).

Co-organizer Maryann Welch said the event drew the largest crowd they’ve had in recent years.

“We had 500 bracelets to give out, and we ran out of those,” she said. “I would say we had 600-plus.”

The relay race was quite competitive, but it was ruled a tie because neither team’s starter actually jumped into the pond at the beginning to retrieve the choker — which was supposed to be the official timers’ cue to start their watches.

“We’ll have to be more clear about that next year,” chuckled timer Reggie Mays.

All events were mixed (men and women) unless otherwise noted.
