Pacific, Grays Harbor unemployment rates dropped in May

Both counties tied with Stevens, Pend Oreille for second highest in state

Unemployment rates for the month of May in Grays Harbor and Pacific counties came in at 6.9 percent, down from 7.5 percent and 7.3 percent, repectively, in April and 8.1 and 7.7 percent in March.

According to the State Employment Security Department, both Grays Harbor and Pacific counties are tied for the second-highest unemployment rate in the state, with Stevens and Pend Oreille counties. Ferry County unemployment is the highest in the state at 9.7 percent.

The lowest unemployment rates were King County at 3.1 percent and Snohomish County at 3.5 percent. The statewide unemployment rate for May was 4.5 percent.
