Pacific County COVID-19 case count rises by 11 in one week to 43

Pacific County stands at 43 COVID-19 cases as of Aug. 5, up 11 from the previous week.

County Emergency Management Director Scott McDougall provided the update Wednesday, which added that the county has performed 2,061 total COVID-19 tests, up just shy of 300 from the previous week.

McDougall’s report said of the 43 confirmed cases attributed to the county, 37 are among those residing within the county. Of those 37, 14 are listed as living in the north half of the county, 23 in the south.

As of Aug. 5 there are 19 active cases in the county being monitored by Pacific County Public Health. There are also six probable cases, not currently listed among the county’s total of 43, being monitored. Current numbers show 24 “closed cases,” those no longer being monitored.

Hospitalizations in the county remain at six, unchanged from the previous week, and the death toll remains at two, 4.7% of confirmed cases.

McDougall provided a snapshot of statewide and surrounding counties. Statewide, as of Aug. 5, the number of cases was 59,379 with a death toll at 1,619; Wahkiakum reported five cases, Lewis County 190 cases; and Clatsop County, Oregon 81 cases.

Grays Harbor

Grays Harbor officials reported 66 cases and one death in July and as of Friday four cases and two deaths in August. Officials are tracking 19 active cases in the county, meaning people who tested positive and are either in isolation or quarantine, and have 82 active contact investigation underway. Friday the case count stood at 110.
