Online open house shares plans for Boone Street roundabout in Aberdeen

Proposed improvements at the intersection of Boone Street (State Route 105) at West Harriman Street in south Aberdeen, including a roundabout, are the focus of an online state Department of Transportation open house that goes through May 17.

The traffic signal at the intersection — located just north of the Shoppes at Riverside — has reached the end of its useful life, according to the state. After an intersection analysis, the Department of Transportation is recommending a single-lane roundabout at this intersection, which the agency said will help reduce the potential for crashes while keeping people moving.

“We invite all users of this roadway to get an idea of what we’re considering,” said Dennis Engel, Department of Transportation multimodal planning manager. “It helps us better understand the needs of the community while balancing our responsibility to maintain intersections for all roadway users.”

Open house attendees will get in-depth information about the proposal and be able to give feedback at https://engage.wsdot.wa.gov/sr-105-south-boone-and-west-harriman/ through May 17. Comments will also be accepted by email at Debbie.Clemen@wsdot.wa.gov, telephone at 360-704-3204, or letter to Debbie Clemen, P.O. Box 47440, Olympia, WA 98504-7440.
