New turn lane coming to US 12/Chehalis Street in Aberdeen

State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will soon restripe a segment of eastbound Highway 12 near Chehalis Street in east Aberdeen to create a new left-turn lane.

From 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, to 4 a.m. Friday, June 21, drivers will see one-way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers at the intersection.

The changes are the result of a Practical Solutions process in which traffic engineers looked for cost-effective ways to improve traffic flow and reduce the potential for collisions, according to the Department of Transportation.

The work is weather-dependent and could be rescheduled.

Real-time traffic information is available via the Department of Transportation traffic app, wsdot.wa.gov/Inform/mobile.htm.
