Montesano incumbents fare well on election night

Cope and Trimble hold steady leads over challengers

The Montesano City Council incumbents all fared well following a preliminary ballot count on election night.

Incumbent Ian Cope held 464 votes (56.79 percent) to Barry Iverson’s 353 votes (43.2 percent) in the Council Position 2 race.

In the Montesano race for Council Position 6, incumbent Tyler Trimble took 431 votes (54.49 percent) to Ray Meyers’ 360 votes (45.51 percent). Meyers had dropped out of the race long ago due to health concerns, however, his decision to drop from the race came too late to have his name removed from ballots.

A similar spread was seen in the race for Council Position 3, where Kim Cristobal garnered 448 votes (56.65 percent) to Robert Hatley’s 357 votes (44.35 percent). Both were newcomers to the Montesano political scene.

Running uncontested was Clint Bryson for Montesano Council Position 1.

Another ballot count is scheduled for Nov. 8. The election will be certified on Nov. 28.
