The City of Cosmopolis will dedicate the new Mill Creek Dam at noon Saturday, Sept. 29, at Mill Creek Park, announced Cosmopolis Mayor Frank Chestnut.

The public is invited, and Chestnut went out of his way to invite “people who were instrumental in helping us secure the funding and others who helped all along the way.” There will be a few short speeches, then a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new, modern dam replaces the one breached by heavy rains in 2008 and is made of concrete, steel and earth. It includes a fish ladder, fish weirs and a walkway across the top leading to a short trail around the pond. The dam is accessible by taking C Street west off Highway 101 near the police department.
