Meet finalists for Aberdeen schools superintendent

Community can see the four candidates on Thursday and Friday afternoons at specified times

The public is invited to meet the four finalists interviewing for the superintendent position of the Aberdeen School District during meetings on Thursday and Friday. Here is the schedule for their community meetings in the auditorium at Aberdeen High School:

Today

4 p.m., Jeff Davis of Onalaska

5 p.m., Mike Villarreal of Othello

Friday

4 p.m., Kelly Raymond of Tacoma

5 p.m., Alicia Henderson of Mountain View, Calif.

Earlier in the day, each of the candidates will have a chance to tour the district, meet with principals and administrators, students, union leadership, teachers and staff.

Feedback from staff and the community will play an important role in the final decision, said Board President Sandra Bielski.

Each candidate’s day will conclude with an interview by school board members, who will enter into an executive session on Friday evening to choose from among the four candidates. That person will succeed Dr. Thomas A. Opstad, who is retiring after seven years with the district.
