Man struck, injured by vehicle on SR109 late Thursday

A 30-year-old Ocean Shores man was injured Thursday night when he was struck by a car while trying to direct traffic around a fallen tree on State Route 109 west of Hoquiam.

According to the State Patrol, a 56-year-old Ocean Shores woman stopped for the man directing traffic shortly before 9 p.m., but was struck from behind by a vehicle being driven by a 61-year-old Ocean Shores woman, forcing the vehicle that had stopped to strike the victim.

The man was transported by aid car to Grays Harbor Community Hospital with undisclosed injuries. The 61-year-old Ocean Shores woman was cited for driving too fast for conditions, according to the State Patrol. The roadway was fully or partially blocked with alternating traffic for about three hours.
