Man arrested in Aberdeen gas station break-in

A 21-year-old Aberdeen man was arrested early Tuesday morning after breaking into the Liberty gas station store in Aberdeen, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.

The man attempted to hide in the ceiling of the gas station when law enforcement arrived According to the report from Aberdeen Lt. C.J. Chastain, who added that the man is homeless.

A little after 3 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report by the gas station owner that the owner was watching a male suspect burglarize the store, the report says. A call was made to 911, and two officers on patrol in the immediate area arrived soon after to discover a broken window on the northwest corner of the store. Officers from the Hoquiam Police Department also responded, and officers could hear noises inside the store. The Grays Harbor County K-9 team also assisted. The suspect was then apprehended in the kitchen area, attempting to hide in the ceiling, the report says.

The suspect voluntarily gave himself up and became cooperative when he realized the K-9 was preparing to apprehend him. The suspect’s clothing matched the description provided by the business owner during the initial report, and he was booked into the Aberdeen jail under suspicion of burglary and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant in Aberdeen Municipal Court.
