Local Briefs: Float fundraiser, egg hunt & Babe Ruth signups

Avalon Glassworks float fundraiser March 28

The Museum of the North Beach in Moclips will host its 17th annual Avalon Glassworks float sale fundraiser on Sunday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The annual event offers art glass collectors and fans of the little museum the chance to buy a different glass float each year, the sales of which benefit the facility located at 4658 State Route 109.

Since 2005, Jon and Shannon Felix of Avalon Glassworks in West Seattle have been providing a new, limited-edition blown glass float.

The 2021 edition is called “Macro Plastic.” The 4-inch diameter, hand-blown glass float is designed with multicolored glass chips in colors common to washed-up plastic debris. It has some clear transparency between the colorful spots where the light can shine through. Each float is stamped “Moclips by the Sea” on the sealing button and half of the $40 purchase price goes directly to the museum.

To have a “Macro Plastic” float mailed to you, contact the museum at 360-276-4441 or email kelly@moclips.org with your zip code for a quote on shipping.

Drive-through children’s Easter egg hunt

Cars will line up single-file and snake through the parking lot so children from ages 1 through 12 can safely receive their eggs.
