Raymond Theatre

Sunday Afternoon Live has announced the final three shows of the 2021-22 season.

Portland-based Gideon Freudmann brings his cello to the Raymond Theatre on April 10, followed by Bridge & Wolak on May 1 and The Special Consensus on May 15.

The events start at 3 p.m. with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. in the historic theater, located at 323 Third St.

Tickets for each event are $25 at the door, cash or check only; or $20 in advance, available at Alder & Co., Raymond Drug, South Bend Pharmacy, sundayafternoonlive.org, or by phone 360-836-4419. Students are $5.

Freudmann’s CelloBop features the versatility of the four-stringed instrument and his own creative bent. His website describes his work this way: “Gideon imaginatively riffs on conventions and traditions. He loops and layers his sounds with pedals and amplifiers, sculpting orchestras out of thin air. Gideon’s music is spontaneous yet immediately accessible — so it is no wonder that film, television and radio producers seek it out.

“He regularly contributes to NPR’s All Things Considered, This American Life and CarTalk; his work is featured on Good Morning America, the TV show Weeds, as well as in several films; and he plays solo and ensemble shows in Portland and around the world. At times atmospheric and oftentimes playful, Gideon’s signature sound always exists in its own unique dimension: nuanced, intricate and fun!”

Bridge & Wolak will take the stage on May 1. Their program is described as an internationally-acclaimed music and comedy duo, integrating traditional acoustic instruments with 21st century digital technology. They perform their own uniquely reimagined repertoire of classical, world and jazz fusion.

The Special Consensus ends the season on May 15. A bluegrass band with two Grammy nominations, “The Special Consensus has achieved a contemporary sound in their four decades of performing, making their music a modern classic under direction of band leader and founder Greg Cahill.
