John Larson to be honored at Polson open house Sunday

20 years as museum director

The Polson Museum Board and museum volunteers are staging an open house at the museum in Hoquiam Sunday to recognize John Larson’s 20th year as museum director. The event is from 1-4:00 p.m.and open to the public.

Larson was raised in Hoquiam and after receiving a degree in history from the University of Chicago, returned home to be the first full time paid director of the Polson Museum. He has consistently championed efforts to retain the area’s historic architecture and has made great strides in cataloging and growing the museum’s collection.

Under Larson’s leadership a replica Polson Logging locomotive repair shop was constructed where the Polson Logging’s 1906 Baldwin locomotive is being restored.
