Investigators closing in on suspect in murder of Hoquiam man

Investigators are closing in on a suspect in the murder of Andrew Detwiler, 35, of Hoquiam, who was found dead from gunshot wounds at a boat launch on the Humptulips River Sunday, according to Grays Harbor County undersheriff Dave Pimentel.

“We have got a suspect that we’re pretty close to being able to charge,” he said Wednesday morning.

A fisherman reported the body about 9 a.m. Sunday. Investigators spent the day and into the night investigating the scene, located just off State Route 109 about 10 miles west of Hoquiam. The coroner confirmed the cause of death as homicide by gunshot wounds Monday.

Pimentel said the victim was known to investigators but did not have an extensive history with the Sheriff’s Office. No further details were made available as the investigation is still ongoing as of Wednesday afternoon.
