Grays Harbor may see additional accumulating lowland snow into early Thursday morning. Amounts of snow vary based on location and are ranging from one to two inches. Overnight refreezing is likely and could result in black ice.
Temperatures will remain cool through at least early next week.
Prepare for rapidly changing conditions in snow and limited visibility. Off and on snow showers will continue
For Hoquiam, Aberdeen, Elma and throughout Grays Harbor, a weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Snow amounts will be variable across the area. Localized higher amounts are possible under any bands of heavier snow that develop.
Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages.
For the Willapa Hills area, including Brooklyn, a winter storm warning ended Wednesday evening after about three inches of snow fell.
WSDOT warnings
The Washington State Department of Transportation is warning everyone to adjust their behavior while driving, especially during snowy and icy weather.
Wednesday morning they had two separate incidents where their crews were hit involving poor driver behavior. First, they had one of their plow trucks rear-ended along northbound I-5 at Marine View Drive in Everett.
The device used to apply product to treat the road was damaged. The plow is now out of service for further inspection. The causing driver was found to have a suspended license, and they will receive a citation for the collision.
Then shortly after, along I-405 in Kirkland, they had an Incident Response Team (IRT) truck hit while responding to a collision. The driver who struck the IRT truck fled the scene. That IRT truck was also damaged.
Thankfully, their two crew members were uninjured. Their crews are out plowing and treating, and responding to collisions everywhere, 24 hours a day. But they can’t be everywhere all at once. There’s a lot of lane miles to cover.
Let this be a reminder to slow down, drive sober, drive for conditions, remove distractions and give WSDOT crews room whether they are plowing or helping at a collision scene.
