Parents and future Aberdeen Police Department Explorer candidates are encouraged to attend an information meeting about the program at the Aberdeen High School Community Room on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m.
“This will be the time to bring all your questions about the Explorer program,” said Det. Jeff Weiss, Aberdeen Police Department Explorer Advisor.
Aberdeen High School is located at 410 N. G St. in Aberdeen.
As previously announced, the Aberdeen Police Department is looking for young adults between the ages of 15½ and 20 years of age to join the Police Explorer Post. Explorers learn about law enforcement first hand through training and riding on patrol with officers. Explorers serve the department and community in a variety of ways, while developing a greater understanding of the criminal justice system. Weiss said the program teaches valuable skills whether or not an Explorer decides to pursue a law enforcement career.
