Grays Harbor Fire District No. 1 personnel were still on the scene Thursday morning of the massive July 4 blaze in Oakville. They were putting out stubborn hot spots. The fire, which destroyed the vacant old hardware store, liquor store and a home, spared only one structure on the 100 block of East Pine — the tavern — according to a new release from the fire district.

Helping out Thursday were personnel from the West Thurston Regional Fire Authority and its aerial truck, which allowed firefighters to precisely pinpoint the last remaining hot spots. The cause of the fire is believed to be fireworks.
