Hoquiam woman medevac’d after car crash

One of her rear tires blew, leading to the crash

A Hoquiam woman was medevac’d Sunday evening after she struck a tree while driving.

Venus J. Lutz, 51, was driving a 1999 Isuzu when a rear tire blew sometime after 6 p.m., causing the vehicle to leave the road and strike several trees, according to a report from the Washington State Patrol. The crash occurred on Highway 101 northwest of Hoquiam near Humptulips.

Lutz was medevac’d by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center, according to the report.

Lutz was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the report. The vehicle was totaled in the crash. Lutz was cited with third-degree driving with license suspended and driving on studded tires out of season, according to the report.
