Hoquiam pastor suspected of child molestation

Adair Krack, the pastor of First Baptist Church of Hoquiam, has two accusers

Adair Krack, 67, a pastor at the First Baptist Church in Hoquiam, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of 1st degree Child Molestation and 2nd degree child molestation.

Krack was arrested by detectives with the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Grays Harbor County Jail. He was released after posting bond. Each allegation came with a $50,000 bail amount, according to the sheriff’s department.

Investigators from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon provided information last month to local law enforcement regarding a possible child molestation case at a residence on West Lilly Road in Elma.

Investigators say Krack knew the victims and their family members when he lived in Oregon previously. Krack moved to Washington in 2002 and the family remained close to him afterward. In 2010, the family started sending the three younger daughters to Krack’s Vacation Bible School in Washington.

Investigators here learned that a 12-year-old girl from Oregon reported being inappropriately touched by Krack while at his home on West Lilly Road this past summer. The girl and her two younger sisters ages 7 and 9 had attended a week-long Vacation Bible School at the church and were staying with Krack at his home.

The victims’ family first met Krack in Oregon when he was an assistant pastor at a church there. The 12-year-old made allegations of inappropriate touching occurring this past summer, she also indicated that the molestation had been going on for several years.

Krack had befriended the family, often babysitting the oldest daughter while the single mother worked, authorities say. That daughter is now 20 years of age and lives in another state. The 20-year-old was also contacted reference this investigation and made allegations that she was molested by Krack when she was a young child.

The two younger sisters were interviewed by investigators and made no disclosures to investigators.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have information relevant to this case is asked to contact Detective Jason Wecker of the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office at (360) 964-1765.
