High wind watch goes into effect Saturday evening

Easing off after sunrise Sunday

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch effective from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.

The wind is expected from the south and southeast, 20 to 40 mph with gusts as high as 60 mph.

It is likely to affect Westport, Ocean Shores, Hoquiam, Taholah, Aberdeen and Pacific Beach, peaking early Sunday morning and likely easing off after sunrise on Sunday.

Emergency officials say tree damage and some power outages are possible.
