Former GHC president Brewster returns on interim basis

Former Grays Harbor College President Dr. Ed Brewster was selected by the college board of trustees Monday to return to that role on an interim basis.

Current college president Dr. Jim Minkler retired at the end of the day Tuesday.

The college board of trustees met Monday for the sole purpose of selecting an interim president, and board member Art Blauvelt, after a 45-minute executive session, moved to “offer a contract to Ed Brewster as interim president by July 1 or as soon thereafter as the contract can be signed.”

The board of trustees unanimously approved the contract offer. There was no confirmation Wednesday morning that the contract had been signed.

Brewster will remain interim president through June 30, 2021, or until a new president is hired, whichever is soonest, and will get the same salary and benefits package as Minkler’s this current school year.

Brewster served as the college’s president for 11 years prior to his retirement at the end of the 2015-16 school year.
