A house in the 700 block of Kingston Court NE was completely destroyed by fire Friday afternoon, but the two occupants and two small dogs all managed to flee without injuries.
By the time the Ocean Shores Fire Department arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames. The property recently had been the subject of code violations.
The elderly woman who owned the house and a man who helped care for her both managed to get out when the fire was first detected. She said the house was not insured, and she was being temporally housed for the night courtesy of the Canterbury Inn.
Fire Department Investigator Curt Begley was on the scene after the fire was fought with an engine, the ladder truck, and assistance from Ocean Shores Police and Grays Harbor Fire District No. 7.
The Red Cross also was being called in for assistance as all the belongings in the house appeared to have been destroyed.
