Father, son uninjured after getting swept away by Ocean Shores rip current
A father and son caught up in a rip current off of Ocean Shores were rescued uninjured by an Ocean Shores police officer Friday, according to a statement released Saturday by Ocean Shores Police Chief Neccie Logan.
The 12-year-old boy from Port Orchard was pulled into the surf around 3 p.m. His father entered the surf and was also caught in the rip current. The boy made it safely to shore, but his 40-year-old father was unable to do so. Police officer Chris Iverson was able to throw a rope with a floatation device to the man and pull him ashore.
“Father and son were checked out by paramedics on the beach, and released with no lasting effects from the ordeal,” said Logan.
