Drowsy driver, passenger injured in US12 wreck near Oakville Friday

Two men were injured Friday in a single car crash on Highway 12 a mile east of Oakville when the driver fell asleep and left the road, according to a State Patrol report.
The driver, a 47-year-old man from Elma, was heading eastbound shortly before 4 p.m. when he fell asleep. According to the report, the 1996 Ford F-250 pickup continued down the road’s edge before striking an embankment. The driver was injured but refused aid, according to the report. A 58-year-old passenger from Aberdeen was injured and taken to Summit Pacific Medical Center by aid car.
The driver is facing charges of second degree negligent driving, according to the State Patrol.
