A 20-year-old Ocean Shores man suffered minor injuries when he rolled his 1999 Nissan Maxima on its top on Emerson Avenue Monday evening.
According to a report from Hoquiam Police Sgt. Jeff Salstrom, the driver was traveling westbound in the 300 block of Emerson about 8:39 p.m. when he reached down to change the radio station. As his eyes left the roadway, he struck a legally parked 2006 Ford F-350 on the north side of the roadway, causing the Nissan to roll on its top, blocking the westbound lane. The driver had minor injuries, was examined on the scene by aid personnel and declined treatment or transport to the hospital.
“The airbags in the Nissan were deployed; fortunately the driver was wearing his seat belt, likely saving himself from more serious injury,” said Salstrom. “There were no signs that the driver was impaired by drugs or alcohol.”
The driver was cited for second-degree negligent driving and for failing to provide proof of liability insurance. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
