Missed handoff leads to drug bust

An Aberdeen officer on patrol Wednesday night observed a 22-year old male he knew walking on North Park Street just north of Market Street in Aberdeen. Finding the man had an active Department of Corrections warrant, the officer contacted the male and informed him of his warrant. The male had a pouch with him, which he tried handing to a female, but the officer observed the transaction. The female was informed that she could not take the pouch as the officer had just seen the male hand it to her. Dispatch confirmed the warrant and the male was arrested. He was searched prior to arrest and suspected methamphetamine and marijuana were located. He was transported to the Aberdeen jail. The officer performed a test confirming methamphetamine. The marijuana was placed into evidence and the suspect was provided with an instruction form for claiming his marijuana.
