Bubba busted for allegedly bashing ex’s windshield
Aberdeen police were called to the 600 block of West Market Street Saturday at 10 p.m. by a man stating his car had been damaged. A clerk from nearby Young’s Quick Stop had witnessed the incident and identified the suspect, known as Bubba, who was the ex-husband of a woman who is now allegedly the girlfriend of the car’s owner. According to a release by Aberdeen Police Investigations Clerk Kaylee Steen, the vehicle’s windshield had been hit with a rock causing spider web cracks across the width of the windshield. There was a large impact mark at the top of the windshield above the passenger seat area along with a slight dent in the vehicle’s roof just above the impact mark. Police were able to locate Bubba — who has no permanent address and is known to police — Monday evening as he was walking in the 200 block of East Whiskah. Citing probable cause, Bubba was arrested; during a search officers found a knife on the suspect, then transported the suspect to the Aberdeen Jail where he was booked for malicious mischief.
Sooty palms lead to reckless burning citation, warrant arrest
Aberdeen Police officers responded to the area of West 1st Street for a report of someone trying to set a dumpster on fire in the alley just after 11 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect was described as a male wearing a dark jacket, light jeans and white shoes. Arriving officers saw a man matching the description and contacted him as he walked toward L Street. The male stated he was walking in the alley, but said he had not started a fire. He kept attempting to place his hands in his pockets and had to be asked several times not to do so. The officer shined the flashlight on the man’s hands and noted the presence of what appeared to be soot on his palms. He was asked what had happened and the male stated they were burned. He then stated that he had seen a fire in the dumpster and had been trying to put it out.
The man’s name was run with dispatch and it was linked to a confirmed felony Department of Corrections warrant. The witness was contacted and came to the scene and identified the male as the same one he had seen starting the fire. While an officer was searching the male, a Bic lighter was located along with a singed handkerchief in the man’s jacket pocket. One of the officers noted that local records listed the suspect as a former resident of the residence located within 20 feet of the dumpster. Records also showed that there had been calls of the suspect trespassing at the building after he was evicted. The man was transported to the Hoquiam Jail where he was booked on his warrant and issued a citation for reckless burning.
