If you live around Cosmo Specialty Fibers in Cosmopolis, the sirens you may hear starting Thursday are part of the company’s annual evacuation drills and not a sign of an actual emergency.
There will be five such drills, spaced out over the next several weeks. These state-required drills allow Cosmo to check the adequacy of their procedures for critical events while allowing employees the opportunity to practice their skills and emergency preparedness response in the event of a real emergency.
Scheduled Drill Dates and Alarm Times are as follows:
• Nov. 7, 5:15 p.m.
• Nov. 11, 5:15 p.m.
• Nov. 12, 10:45 a.m.
• Nov. 21, 5:15 p.m.
• Nov. 25, 5:15 p.m.
During the drills, Cosmo Specialty Fibers’ alarms will sound and instructions will be provided to employees via intercom and radio communications. The alarms sounding during these times may be heard outside the mill property and are for training purposes only and will not signify an actual emergency. The drills will take about an hour to perform.
