Cosi police searching for black Kia involved in hit-and-run

Offending driver ‘may have left’ some identifying information at the scene

Cosmopolis Police are searching for the driver of a black 2006 Kia Optima that hit and caused major damage to a parked car on D Street at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Employing a bit of sarcasm in its police work, a Cosmopolis Police Facebook post this morning read in part: “Late last night you were driving your black 2006 Kia Optima WA license BHR8988 on D Street and ‘might have’ hit a parked car and ‘might have’ left without taking care of the situation. You ‘might have’ accidentally left with some identifying information left behind. We would like to talk with you now. Please give us a call or turn yourself in.”

Police are asking for the public’s help finding the vehicle. If you notice the black Kia, call 360-532-9237 and leave a message.

The photo provided by the police department shows the vehicle that was hit, a silver SUV, with significant damage to most of its left side, including missing the left front quarter panel. Witnesses posted on social media that the collision was so loud it sounded like a train wreck.
